My Experience with Meditation

I have been practicing meditation for 18 years. I began practicing in University because I was interested in relieving stress and anxiety.

My formal training is in Japanese Zazen under Abbot Taiun Matsunami of Ryosen-An, Daitokuji Temple in Kyoto, Japan. I was fortunate enough to study under him for three years while living and working in Kyoto. Ryosen-An was founded by Ruth Fuller Sasaki.

I also had the honor of studying with the venerable Thich Nhat Hahn for two months at his monastery in France.

While living in Beijing, I completed a 100 Day Meditation exercise under Master Zhang Yu Fei. The practice consisted of 2 hours of sitting per day for the purpose of refining essence into qi, thus building the foundation for the microcosmic circuit.

However my personal practice has grown over the past couple years to include various forms of meditation including: standing postures, inner alchemy, and movement through meditation.
